Let’s find out how yellow my own life is, before I’m going to look what’s all yellow and why it is.

After a short look in my room I found out I haven’t got much yellow in my room. None of all the yellow things in my room I have bought with the reason that it’s yellow, but all products are products which it doesn’t matter they’re yellow, red or blue for me.

Striking was that yellow is most in use as a background colour for texts. It’s a light colour where many texts in a darker colour will be good to read. I’ve never thought about yellow in that practical way, that it’s a good colour in design because it’s good to read and it’s a striking colour.

At the other hand, it seems that many cleaning products are yellow.

I think yellow is associated with clean and fresh because citrons are yellow, which is a fruit, that’s used for many cleaning products. So when you’re sponge is yellow, you indirectly associate it with clean and freshness.

The word yellow comes from the old English geolu, which derived from the German word gelwaz. In England yellow is associated with ‘caution’ because it is the second light on stoplights. In America yellow is associated with aging, like yellowed paper.

Yellow is a sunny and happy colour when it’s a warm type of yellow, which seems a bit orange. On the other side yellow can be seen as a hateful, hard colour when it’s a cold and violent way of yellow.

You can see yellow in many different places, like flowers, Easter, Chinese monarchy, oriental food, custard, and etcetera. Nice starting points for next posts.

Yellow?

Yellow, why oh why yellow? Because I hate yellow! In my closet, interior or surroundingyou will never find yellow. But why am I so disgusted with the color yellow?

It’s very difficult to describe my hard feelings towards yellow. Is it because fewer things are yellow in contrast to black for example. Maybe I am not used to the color yellow and is that the reason why I also don’t want to see yellow in my surrounding. If everything what’s black now will turn yellow, I maybe would have hated black instead of yellow. A good question to find out…

This weekly posts on whishcasting.net will always be about yellow in some way: yellow as color, yellow in an ugly way, yellow as a nice color, etcetera.

Maybe, after a half-year all readers and me will be more open-minded towards yellow and maybe beginning to appreciate the color!
